K4 the technical boot for high altitude mountaineering ideal for tackling terrain and ice at altitudes of 4000 m characterized by particularly harsh climates. Thanks to full compatibility with automatic crampons, it is ideal for glacier crossings and ice climbing. K4 GTX is highly resistant, equipped with the most innovative thermal technologies and components of the Kayland range.
UPPER
A new high-impact graphic accompanies the high technicality of this shoe. The completely renewed design with a new pattern recalls the style of other models in the range for an unmistakable stylistic continuity with the new logo and pictogram evident on both sides.
The rand that surrounds the boot and the toe are made externally with Diamond Technology, an exclusive polyurethane material that offers a degree of abrasion resistance never seen before, and with a larger surface area for greater protection. The internal surface of the rand has been implemented by also adding rubber to ensure greater protection of the foot and shoe from the wear and tear of using crampons. Protective gaiter with waterproof Easy Zip closure.
LINING
Inside, a Gore-Tex® Duratherm lining has been inserted, one of the most thermally insulating in the Gore range. The lining is perfect for protecting the feet even in the coldest temperatures, maintaining the waterproofness and breathability of the foot, increasing the level of internal comfort of the shoe.
SOLE
Accentuated arch to ensure greater braking of the shoe during descent and for better grip on rocks. The Vibram® Teton sole has a specific design for mountaineering and ice climbing: the full areas on the toe and heel ensure greater grip and increase safety, while the sticky compound maintains a high grip in all conditions and on all surfaces.
MIDSOLE AND INSOLE
The polyurethane sole block also wears the institutional colors with a two-tone design. The rear heel for inserting crampons has been embedded and fixed in the midsole to ensure a safer and more stable grip. The mounting insole is made of fiberglass with an aluminum plate to ensure maximum rigidity, especially when using crampons. The midsole is characterized by an exclusive technology, thanks to the Smart PU component, the polyurethane mix capable of reacting to temperature changes: it hardens the heel area in the presence of colder temperatures and softens in the presence of a milder climate to facilitate cushioning when walking.
LACING
The K4 GTX offers a new lacing system with maximum adjustment based on the intended use. The tongue has an overlap closure, with a single gusset to ensure total wrapping of the foot. Added to this are 3 levels of closure: a lace puller, which offers the possibility of tightening the laces and maintaining an anatomically constant fit, an intermediate level with the lace closure and finally in the upper part, the Velcro and microfiber strap. The external protective polyamide gaiter has a waterproof closure system with a heat-sealed zip.
